You shouldn’t have to skimp on great dining experiences when you venture into the great outdoors.  At least that’s my motto! Angela Shen couldn’t agree more.  As Founder and CEO of Savor Seattle, Angela is also a foodie.  This week she shares a great recipe with that doubles as just one of the wonderful dining experiences she offers on her Gourmet Kayaking Expeditions.  Vietnamese Salad with Shrimp & Lemongrass Meatballs is sweet, spicy and delicious! Now you can make it at home or as part of your favorite expedition!

Frankly, the only way you could get me on an outdoor adventure is to promise me a fabulous meal at the end of the day, or preferably throughout the day.   When I’m skiing in Sun Valley I can’t wait for “Après Ski” and  a nice glass of wine in front of the fire at the bottom of the Warm Springs run at Mt. Baldy.  When I’m rollerblading on Alki Beach I look forward to heading up to Bakery Nouveau for a fabulous Twice Baked Almond Croissant.  If I’m riding my bike over to Mercer Island and back, I can’t wait for my husband to ply me with Siren Song Chardonnay and his fabulous Clams and Mussels Linguini for dinner!

Anyone who knows me knows…..I plan my favorite athletic and outdoor adventure activities to food and wine rewards.  If you do too, then you just might want to check out Gourmet Kayaking Expeditions.

Angela calls these tours “pampered paddling,” because in addition to fascinating sea life and spectacular sunsets, you’ll enjoy gourmet cuisine and Washington wines. These are the ultimate trips for the gourmand who enjoys nature, the outdoor enthusiast who loves a great meal, or anyone who would like to relax on a beach with a glass of wine after a day of kayaking in the beautiful San Juan Islands…..That would be me!
