A Note to the Host
“Cinco de Mayo celebrates “The Battle of Puebla,” when Mexicans defeated the French and kept Napoleon III from building a stronghold in Mexico to supply confederate rebels. May 5th is a bigger celebration in the states than in Mexico, and a great excuse to enjoy the Mexican Food, Sangria, and Tequilla we love!”
- A great Mexican Fiesta starts with Tequilla and Salsa! We like to invite friends to bring their favorite mexican dish to the party, and then include them in the salsa preparation. We have lots of recipes to inspire your Cinco de Mayo, or Mexican Fiesta anytime!
- Once everyone has arrived, and guests have a chance to chat and get a drink, it’s time to start the salsa! We set out a variety of peppers, tomatoes, cilantro, fresh basil, garlic, onions, you name it. Then everyone starts chopping! We like to try various ingredient combinations and heat levels using different styles of peppers. You can use our Saucy Salsa recipe as a base, then add your own creativity.
- Taste testing is part of the fun. You can even give a prize to the best salsa. We also make guacamole while we're at it. Try some of our delicious mexican classics at your Mexican Fiesta or invite your friends to bring a dish!
- Don't forget to play a little Salsa music while you're at it!
